Gemeente Leidschendam-Voorburg NGO exhibition

The Gemeente Leidschendam-Voorburg organises a day where local NGOs can exhibit, free of charge, alongside one another. An NGO Yasin had been in contact with brought him along, which is how a stand of acrylic paintings ended up between mission posters and pamphlets.

The afternoon’s surprise came when Mayor Martijn Vroom stopped at the stand. He stayed a long time — longer than anyone else on the floor — asking specific questions about why Yasin paints the moon so often, what draws him to forest scenes, what motivates the work. It was the first public conversation about the practice that wasn’t with friends or family.
